We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to support a Infection Service Discovery project. This is a short-term contract role working as part of a multidisciplinary discovery team to help shape data architecture, data flows, and data standards that underpin user-centred service design.

You will work closely with user researchers, UX and service designers, and business analysts to ensure data considerations are embedded early in the discovery phase and aligned with user and organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Define and document high-level data architecture to support the service discovery
Identify data sources, data flows, and data dependencies across the service landscape
Work collaboratively with user researchers and designers to translate user needs into data requirements
Support business analysts in understanding data constraints, opportunities, and impacts
Assess current-state data architecture and propose future-state options
Consider data governance, data quality, privacy, and security implications
Produce clear, lightweight artefacts suitable for a discovery phase (e.g. diagrams, models, recommendations)
Contribute to decision-making around feasibility, risks, and next steps for alpha

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Data Architect, ideally within discovery or early delivery phases
Strong understanding of data modelling, data flows, and system integration
Experience working in multidisciplinary, user-centred design teams
Ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Familiarity with agile and service design methodologies
Experience working in health, public sector, or regulated environments (desirable)

Desirable Experience

Previous involvement in service discovery or alpha projects
Knowledge of healthcare, clinical, or infection-related data domains
Experience working in hybrid or government-style delivery environments
