IT Project Manager – Digital & Technology (Asset Transformation)

Location: Lewisham - 1 day a week, 4 days working from home

Directorate: IT & Digital Services

Programme: Asset Transformation Programme

Pay: £69.42 per hour Inside IR35

We’re looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the Digital & Technology workstream within our ambitious Asset Transformation Programme. This is a high-impact role at the heart of reshaping how our organisation works — creating a modern, hybrid-ready digital workplace across our Catford estate. If you’re passionate about delivering meaningful change, working collaboratively, and using technology to improve services, this role offers scale, visibility and real-world impact.

The Role

Working within the IT and Digital Service division, you’ll partner closely with Council services, suppliers, and the Transformation team to deliver complex corporate projects. You’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of digital and technology initiatives, including:

Broadband and WiFi upgrades
Desktop and end-user computing improvements
Hybrid meeting and collaboration solutions
Access control systems
Digital signage and room/desk booking systems

You’ll manage the full lifecycle — from requirements gathering and design through procurement, installation and rollout — ensuring solutions are user-centred, future-proofed and deliver real benefits.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead multiple technical and non-technical projects from initiation to closure
Plan, manage and maintain project plans, budgets, risks, issues and benefits
Apply PRINCE2 and Agile methodologies, selecting the right approach for each project
Establish and maintain effective project governance and reporting
Provide clear written, visual and numerical updates to Project and Programme Boards
Work with Business Analysts to embed and sustain change
Manage suppliers and partners to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
Lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams
Prototype, test and iterate solutions using Agile and design-led approaches
Ensure projects are formally closed, reviewed and lessons learned are captured

What You’ll Bring

Knowledge & Skills

Substantial knowledge of PRINCE2 and Agile project management
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong budget and financial management capability
Ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively
Strong organisational, coordination and time-management skills
A user-centred, outcomes-focused approach to delivery

Experience

Proven experience delivering projects in a large, complex organisation
Track record of leading projects from concept through to implementation
Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing at all levels
Ability to navigate complex problems and make pragmatic decisions
Experience applying technology to enable business change
Experience leading and motivating project teams
Confident using project tools such as MS Project, Visio, Lucidchart or similar
