MERN Stack Software Engineer (Contract)

UK Remote

⏳ Short-term engagement (audit)

Availability: Within the next 4 weeks

We’re working with a founder-led business looking for an experienced MERN Stack Engineer to carry out a technical audit of an existing codebase.

This isn’t a greenfield build; the focus is on reviewing what’s already in place and providing clear, practical feedback on code quality, architecture, risks, and next steps.

Tech stack:

MongoDB
React
Express
Node

What you’ll be doing:

Reviewing an existing MERN codebase
Assessing structure, scalability, and maintainability
Identifying technical debt and potential risks
Providing a clear audit summary with recommendations

What we’re looking for:

Strong commercial experience across the MERN stack
Previous experience auditing or reviewing existing systems
Comfortable working with founder-led teams
UK-based and available to start within the next 3–4 weeks

Engagement:

Contract basis
UK remote
Scope and duration to be agreed following initial discussions
