Job Description

What You'll Do:

Project Execution

Detailed Design Development: Lead the post-sale mechanical design process, developing detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for automation and robotic systems.
Prototype Development: Oversee or participate in the development and testing of prototypes to validate designs before full-scale production.
Technical Guidance: Provide ongoing technical support to the project execution team, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring designs are correctly implemented.
Change Management: Assess and approve any changes to the mechanical design during the execution phase, ensuring they do not compromise the project’s objectives.
Feedback Analysis: Gather feedback from the project execution team and clients to identify areas for improvement in mechanical design and project processes.
Interface with Procurement Team: Work closely with the procurement team to ensure they have all the technical information needed to source materials and components efficiently.
Training Sessions: Organize and conduct training and lessons learned sessions on key aspects of the automation and robotic systems, including installation procedures, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Documentation of test plans

Documentation:

Develop detailed wiring diagrams that outline the connections between various mechanical components, control systems, sensors, actuators, etc
Version Control: Maintain version control of wiring diagrams, documenting any changes or revisions made during the project lifecycle.
Documentation Handover: Ensure all relevant documentation (designs, specifications, BOMs, etc.) is thoroughly completed and passed on to the project execution team
BOM Creation: Create and maintain a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) that lists all required mechanical components, materials, and subassemblies, complete with quantities, part numbers, and supplier details
Quick Reference Guides: Provide quick reference guides or cheat sheets for common tasks or troubleshooting steps, ensuring technicians can quickly access critical information.

Technical Review and Consultation:

Work closely with the presale application engineer to understand the project's technical requirements, limitations, and client expectations.
Design Input: Provide expert input during the design phase to optimize mechanical solutions for automation and robotics, ensuring they are practical and scalable.
Knowledge Transfer: Conduct detailed briefings with the project manager, programmers, and technicians to ensure they fully understand the project scope, design intent, and any critical factors.
Risk Assessment: Highlight any potential risks identified during the pre-sale phase to the project execution team and recommend mitigation strategies.
Document Cost Savings: Identify and document opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or performance

Qualifications

3–5 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with hands-on involvement in the design, development, and deployment of mechanical systems
Practical experience working with automation and/or robotic systems, including system integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting in industrial or manufacturing environments
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics from an accredited university
Demonstrated success working in fast-paced, dynamic environments where priorities can shift quickly and deadlines are critical
Strong ability to work autonomously, take ownership of projects from concept to execution, and make sound engineering decisions with minimal supervision
