Description:
This role develops and maintains a mission-critical ADAS analytics application that leverages data from customer vehicles to continuously improve the safety and performance of Audi Cruise Assist in real-world operation. The engineer owns key portions of the product end-to-end-building intuitive, high-performance React user interfaces and implementing Databricks-based data pipelines that ingest, transform, and curate fleet datasets into trusted, analytics-ready assets. The engineer is expected to contribute directly to product design choices and interaction patterns, using Figma to prototype, iterate, and translate concepts into maintainable implementation. Given the scale and complexity of vehicle telemetry and event data, additional impact comes from optimizing large data workflows, including AI-assisted approaches for anomaly detection, and from integrating geospatial context (including experience with mapping APIs such as HERE Maps), in close collaboration with ADAS, product, and data engineering stakeholders globally to enable timely field insights and evidence-based improvement actions. While the core focus remains frontend engineering, the role requires a solid understanding of full stack systems to ensure seamless collaboration with backend engineers.
Required Technical Skills:
• React (modern patterns: hooks, context, component architecture)
• JavaScript (ES6+)
• TypeScript
• HTML / CSS
• Database technologies (PostgreSQL and NoSQL)
• Python backend development
• Databricks (notebooks, jobs, and SQL queries; integrating UI workflows with Databricks-backed data, including Asset Bundles)
• REST API design and implementation
• Experience building scalable backend services and integrating them with frontend applications
Engineering & Delivery Skills:
• Strong understanding of web application architecture
• API integration (REST/JSON; familiarity with auth patterns such as OAuth/JWT is a plus)
• Data visualization and UX for technical users (charts, tables, filters, drill-down; latency-aware UX)
• Experience with integration of map APIs (e.g. HERE maps)
• Understanding geospatial indexing systems
• Frontend quality: unit/integration testing and performance profiling
• Ability to effectively use AI tools for development
• Strong communication and collaboration across Product, Data, and Engineering
• GIT, Azure Devops
• Understanding system scalability, observability, and backend performance considerations
Differential:
• Prior experience working with automotive datasets, especially Autonomous Driving / ADAS telemetry and validation workflows
• Experience designing web applications with Figma
• Expertise on optimizing big data workflows with AI
Role Responsibilities:
Frontend application development (30%)
• Design, implement, and maintain responsive, performant user interfaces using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Build reusable components and consistent UI patterns; ensure accessibility and usability for technical users.
• Infrastructure work to support application deployment.
Backend REST API development (25%)
• Build, maintain and expand backend API for front end usage.
• Integrate UI with backend services and data APIs; enable filtering, drill-down, and exploration of large datasets.
• Design good, robust and secure SQL queries to access the data.
• Contribute to backend development as needed, focusing on modifications, small/medium extensions, and ensuring frontend/backend alignment.
Data integration & analytics workflows (10%)
• Collaborate with data teams to connect applications to Databricks queries/jobs and curated datasets; use SQL and Python effectively.
Prototyping, automation & developer tooling (15%)
• Use Python for lightweight tooling (data utilities, automation scripts, notebooks that support UI features).
• Create proof-of-concepts quickly and iterate toward production-grade implementations.
Quality, reliability & performance (10%)
• Implement automated testing (unit/integration), monitor frontend performance, and improve responsivenes
