Our UK based leading banking client is looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join the team on an initial 6-month contract.

Job Description: DevOps Engineer (Python, Microservices, API Gateways)

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with strong experience in Python scripting, unit testing, microservices architecture, and API gateway management. The ideal candidate will support automation initiatives, CI/CD pipeline enhancements, platform reliability, and API lifecycle operations. Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) will be a significant advantage.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Python with hands-on experience in writing automation scripts.
Experience writing unit test cases using frameworks such as pytest, unittest, or nose.
Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system principles.
Hands-on experience with at least one API Gateway (Apigee, Kong, Tyk, AWS API Gateway, etc.).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like GitLab, Jenkins, etc.
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes & Helm.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Experience with AWS cloud services.
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
Understanding of security best practices (OAuth2, mTLS, secret management).

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving skills and debugging abilities.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Proactive, ownership-focused mindset.
