AWS DevOps Engineer – Glasgow (Hybrid)
We are looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join a long-term contract engagement based in Glasgow, working on a hybrid basis with 2–3 days on site per week.
This role sits within a large-scale, enterprise cloud environment and requires someone who is comfortable owning AWS infrastructure, driving automation, and working closely with engineering and security teams to deliver secure, scalable cloud platforms.

What we are looking for:
You will bring strong, hands-on AWS DevOps experience, with CloudFormation at the core of your skill set, and a passion for automation and operational excellence.
Responsibilities will include:
Designing and maintaining AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as infrastructure-as-code
Building and improving CI/CD pipelines, primarily using AWS-native tooling
Developing automation in Python, integrating with services such as Lambda, Step Functions, and Glue
Managing and optimising AWS services including ECS, EC2, DynamoDB, Athena, IAM, and KMS
Implementing secure identity, authentication, and authorisation patterns across cloud services
Ensuring strong security, encryption, and access control standards are consistently applied
Troubleshooting cloud infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues
Collaborating with engineering, security, and architecture teams to shape DevOps best practices
Driving improvements in automation, reliability, and observability across the platform
Required experience:
5+ years’ experience working as a DevOps Engineer with a strong AWS focus
Expert-level CloudFormation experience (essential)
Strong hands-on knowledge of:
Lambda, Glue, Step Functions
ECS, EC2
DynamoDB, Athena
Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting
Solid understanding of IAM, KMS, and AWS security best practices
Experience with authentication and authorisation concepts (OAuth2, JWT, API security)
Proven background building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
Good understanding of cloud networking, containers, and modern cloud architecture
Nice to have:
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana
Exposure to serverless architecture patterns
Experience working in enterprise or cloud migration programmes
