Location: This is a hybrid role with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days per week in the Ottawa, ON office located at 40 Hines Rd, Ottawa, ON K2K 2M5.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Software Developer to join the development of our Trend Vision One. In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting high-quality SaaS product. As a senior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, and other engineers, to understand requirements and ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.
Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable software applications using best practices and industry standards.
Take ownership of end-to-end feature development, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and documentation practices.
Write non-application code, such as infrastructure as code, unit tests, metrics, monitoring, alarms, etc, to ensure reliability and maintainability.
Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure code quality.
Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Take time for learning and continuous improvement, building your skills and exploring interests beyond current work tasks.
Participate in on-call rotations to support critical system issues, ensuring high availability and performance.

Qualifications

3 years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend or full-stack development.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Go, Java, JavaScript, Python or similar languages.
Demonstrated expertise in complex application development, including debugging, analysis, and optimization.
Experience with cloud native application development on AWS or Azure.
Experience with microservice architectures, REST API development, and event-driven architectures.
Experience with automated CI/CD pipelines.
Proven ability to leverage AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) to accelerate development and explore multiple implementation approaches in parallel.
Leverage AI tools throughout the development lifecycle while maintaining architectural consistency and code quality standards.
Ability to perform thorough and detail oriented reviews when evaluating AI generated code whith a focus on assessing architectural fit, system context, and edge cases.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Continuous learning mindset, with a passion for keeping up with industry trends and technologies.
