Position: R&D Engineer II

Duration: 6-month assignment (contract)

Client Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid)

Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)

About the Engagement

We are seeking an experienced R&D Engineer II to support the development of innovative medical technologies within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. This role focuses strongly on systems-level engineering, with involvement across the full development lifecycle—from concept generation and prototyping through to verification, validation, and manufacturing transfer.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to regulatory submissions, intellectual property development, and clinical support activities.

Services to be Provided

Assist in the design and development of advanced medical devices through prototyping, testing, and modeling.
Participate on project teams to develop design requirements across system, hardware, software, firmware, mechanical, electrical, and interface components.
Support the development and execution of test methods.
Prepare and contribute to technical reports and documentation.
Develop validation plans and conduct validation testing.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and support integration of complex components into system‑level designs.
Support regulatory filings to relevant government agencies.
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of intellectual property.
Support preclinical and clinical research activities.
Follow company Health & Safety policies and communicate any unsafe conditions.
Perform other related duties as required.

Expertise Required

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required).
Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical device or related engineering role.
Knowledge of design and quality requirements, including 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485.
Experience executing rapid design iterations with strong systems-level analysis.
Ability to independently plan and adapt work in ambiguous or evolving project environments using systems engineering principles.
Strong hypothesis-driven experimental design and statistical analysis capabilities.
Hands-on approach to systems integration; ability to troubleshoot and iterate quickly.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and production teams.
Experience drafting and maintaining DHF (Design History File) and DMR (Device Master Record) documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Nice to Have

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or systems engineering (preferred).
Experience with software development or software validation processes.
Proven ability to work efficiently as both a team member and an independent contributor.
