Lead AI Engineer (Cloud & Machine Learning)

12months extandable contract

Our client is a global technology and entertainment group with a strong R&D presence in Europe. They are expanding their Data & AI team in Belgium and are looking for a Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and scale production-grade AI services used across large-scale consumer and enterprise platforms.

This role is hands-on, technical, and focused on taking AI and machine learning systems into real operational use rather than pure research.

What you’ll do

Lead the design and evolution of cloud-based AI and ML services used in production
Build and deploy scalable machine learning systems with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability
Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to integrate AI into real business workflows
Own the full lifecycle of ML services, from architecture and development to deployment and continuous improvement
Mentor and technically guide other engineers while remaining actively hands-on.

What we’re looking for

Strong background as a Senior / Lead AI or Machine Learning Engineer
Excellent Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals
Proven experience deploying ML models into production environments
Experience with cloud platforms, ideally AWS
Familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
Experience with containerisation and modern infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD)
Comfortable working across system design, data pipelines, and ML model integration

Nice to have

Experience with representation learning, embeddings, or recommender systems
Exposure to LLMs, multimodal systems, or graph-based learning
Background in large-scale data platforms or real-time analytics

Location & working model

The role is based in Belgium
Hybrid working is supported, with regular on-site presence required
Relocation support may be discussed for the right candidate
