Associate GP Dean for Structured Learning

Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2026

An opportunity has arisen for 2 session GP Associate Dean to lead and support delivery of structured learning programmes to cover the Thames Valley Region.

Associate Deans have specific responsibilities as agreed in their job plans but retain corporate responsibility with the Scheme TPDs for the organisation and supervision of specialty training programmes for general practice within Thames Valley in line with the national curriculum.

The successful applicant will work with other TPDs and Ads.

Key Elements Of This Are

Organising and delivering the course taught to GPRs
Advising and supporting hospital and GP trainers
Assisting in recruitment and selection of GPRs
Resourcing assessment systems (ARCP)
Support to doctors in innovative GP training programs such as structured learning
Training the workforce (GP Educationalists, admin, GP and hospital trainers, educational and clinical supervisors)
Supporting finding innovative ways of expanding capacity for learners and supervisors and supporting and creating innovative training programmes
Getting involved with technology to support learners and supervisors
Get involved with the SIM faculty as part of the wider move to technology in GP training programs
Collaborating with the Primary Care school to support above activities and promoting quality and expansion for all learners in primary car

This appointment is to the Postgraduate School of Primary Care.

This will involve working with the Head of School and Primary Care Dean.

This will involve also doing strategy work with the primary care Dean, head and deputy head of school.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
