As a portfolio planner, you will be providing senior level support for the Compliance Portfolio from within the Transformation Portfolio Office (TPO).

The role of the Portfolio Planner is to work with stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project plans for initiatives that sit within the Compliance Portfolio are defined. The planner provides clarity on key milestones to define what, when and how activities will be organised to ensure the outcomes of a project can be achieved, with the resources available. They lead on all aspects of planning, which will include the development, updating and monitoring of Portfolio level plans and schedules. They identify milestones, interdependencies and outcomes for the Portfolio and work with project and programme teams to track and monitor progress against the plan throughout the life of the project.

Additionally, the role will provide insight and support to strengthen portfolio governance and enable decisions through engagement with programme and project stakeholders and analysis of information from a range of sources, converting this into informed insights using appropriate reporting and visualisation methods to help ensure the Portfolio meets its strategic objectives and delivers the anticipated benefits.

This role will have a particular focus on planning, including scheduling; dependencies and change control. There is an expectation that successful candidates will develop expertise across the functional areas in TPO in support of team resilience.

Working In Partnership With The TPO Portfolio Delivery Office Team To Establish And Maintain Good Portfolio Governance, Including But Not Limited To The Following

Working as part of the Portfolio Planning team to lead Portfolio planning activities in collaboration with projects or programmes to develop and maintain a Portfolio Plan to identify, track and report delivery against key milestones in support of achieving Portfolio benefits and outcomes.
Working as part of the Portfolio Planning team to identify, monitor and report interdependencies across change initiatives raising risks and issues as necessary in support of delivery of Portfolio benefits and outcomes.
Challenging and assessing assumptions to ensure plans, schedules and dependencies are complete, realistic, achievable and meet project delivery standards.
Maintaining Portfolio baseline and ensuring change control processes are adhered to in updating the baseline.
Engage with a wide range of stakeholders of all different levels in the organisation. Ensure stakeholder needs and responsibilities with regards to planning and scheduling are understood and incorporated into reporting arrangements.
Coordinate reporting from initiatives in the Compliance Portfolio and analyse performance. Leading and / or supporting the production of key reports and briefing documents in relation to planning, scheduling and change control to support effective governance, assurance and decision making.
Use digital tools to analyse data from across the Compliance Portfolio to provide insights into progress against the portfolio plan that inform decision making and to identify potential risks/ delays and opportunities.
Support the development of a sound risk management culture, including identification of emerging trends and working with TPO Risk lead and other key stakeholders to monitor and resolve these through mitigating actions and escalation as appropriate.
Promote portfolio standards as best practice and offer expert advice throughout the End2End Change lifecycle, supporting capability building and the use of best practices in planning and scheduling.
Provide cover for colleagues at peak times, in particular managing interactions with key stakeholders to provide flexible, adaptable and responsive support to TD CCG reporting and governance processes.
Provide support for TPO special projects and ad-hoc activities as required.

Essential Criteria

Experience of end-to-end project planning & schedule development including dependencies identification & management, analysing critical path and milestone slippages.
Experience of working in a project/programme with medium/high complexity.
Experience of using Planning & Scheduling IT software such as MS Project, Oracle Primavera P6 or ServiceNow.
Evidence of analysing and challenging data, identifying trends, drawing insights and presenting these to senior leaders to inform decision making.

Desirable Criteria:

A suitable professional qualification or working towards one within project delivery e.g. APMG, APM, PRINCE2.
Possess the ability and aptitude to plan, prioritise and coordinate technical work and to acquire cooperation from others (management by influence).
Strong attention to detail and have the ability to recognise patterns and trends in data.
Excellent presentation, writing and drafting skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under own initiative.
