About the Role

We’re looking for someone with hands‑on experience supporting Windows 11 and macOS environments, with strong diagnostic skills across both hardware and software. A solid understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 suite is essential, alongside a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll play a key role in maintaining and developing our IT ecosystem, including:

• Supporting and enhancing new and existing IT platforms

• Leveraging internal ISD services and external platforms

• Providing systems administration support

• Configuring and maintaining Windows and/or Linux servers (physical & virtual)

• Supporting specialist applications for research and teaching, including cloud and web‑hosted solutions

• Monitoring server and storage performance

• Ensuring service resilience and uptime within agreed tolerances

• Managing backup and restore processes

• Maintaining departmental systems using technical services (DNS, firewalls, hybrid infrastructure, storage, backup)

• Upholding IT security standards and best practices

• Ensuring consistent software and system versions across environments

• Investigating, classifying, and resolving escalated incidents

• Participating in critical incident response and service restoration

• Creating and maintaining documentation for specialist systems and applications

Technical Skills & Knowledge

We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

• Microsoft Office 365 suite, including:

• SharePoint Online

• Power Platform

• Microsoft Teams & connectors

• Web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript

• Adobe Premiere Pro

– Networks (DNS/DHCP, VPN, Firewall)

– VMware virtualised environments

– Monitoring & logging platforms

– Authentication (AD / OpenLDAP / SAML)
