Role Description
Tech Lead — Banking as a Service (BaaS)

We are building a cutting-edge Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) and programmable finance infrastructure that bridges traditional banking systems with modern API-first platforms, incorporating selective Web3-native components. We are seeking a hands-on Tech Lead with substantial experience in building or integrating BaaS systems to join our team. This is a full-time on-site/remote role located in the Greater Paris Metropolitan Region. The Technical Lead will oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced blockchain and DeFi solutions. Responsibilities include managing and mentoring a team of developers, ensuring code quality, architecting software systems, and driving innovation in the hybrid finance space. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in strategic planning, and ensuring alignment with the company's technical vision and mission.
Position Overview
As the Tech Lead, you will be responsible for the technical backbone of our BaaS platform. This role requires a proactive builder who can design and lead the end-to-end architecture of our platform, ensuring it meets the needs of our clients and adheres to regulatory constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture Design:Lead the design and implementation of the BaaS platform architecture, including accounts, payments, cards, ledger, and KYC/AML integration.
- Integration:Collaborate with banking partners, EMI/AEMI providers, and payment processors to ensure seamless integration.
- Backend Development:Build and maintain secure, scalable, API-first backend services that support core financial operations.
- Financial Primitives Definition:Define and implement core financial primitives such as virtual/IBAN accounts, ledger and balance management, and payment flows (SEPA, cards, transfers).
- Collaboration:Work closely with founders to address product and regulatory constraints.
- Technical Leadership:Make critical technical decisions regarding technology stack, infrastructure, security, and data modeling.
- Mentorship:Mentor and guide early engineers as the team expands.
Qualifications
Must-Have (Non-Negotiable)
- Experience:Minimum of 3 years in backend/platform engineering.
- BaaS Expertise: Hands-on experience with Banking as a Service or embedded finance.
- Payment Systems Knowledge:Strong understanding of payment systems (SEPA, cards, transfers) and ledger-based financial systems.
- API Familiarity:Experience with bank/EMI APIs.
- Regulatory Experience:Proven ability to work within regulated environments (FinTech, payments, banking).
- System Design Skills:Solid skills in security, scalability, and fault tolerance.
Nice-to-Have (Preferred)
- Integration Experience:Familiarity with EMI/AEMI/sponsor bank integrations.
- Compliance Knowledge:Exposure to compliance-driven system design (KYC, AML, transaction monitoring).
- Cloud-Native Skills:Experience with cloud-native architecture (AWS/GCP).
- Additional Experience:Knowledge of event-driven systems, financial reconciliation, and Web3/tokenization/programmable finance (optional).
