Job Title: Security Engineer – UK Healthcare Environment

Location: Remote (UK-based)

Duration: 6 months - Inside IR35

Overview:

We are seeking a Security Engineer to join an established NC team supporting a UK healthcare environment. This role focuses on identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities across the environment, source code, tooling, pipelines, and overall secure posture.

Responsibilities:

Security Architecture & Design: Define secure patterns, frameworks, and standards for the environment.
Policy & Compliance Enforcement: Ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational requirements.
Independent Security Reviews: Conduct threat modeling, code reviews, and risk assessments.
Security Automation & Tooling: Integrate automated security checks into CI/CD pipelines.
Incident Response & Risk Management: Provide oversight and guidance during security events.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor emerging threats and proactively update security practices.
Observability: Monitor and maintain visibility of security scope and KPIs.

Way of Working:

Define clear security governance boundaries separate from delivery responsibilities.
Engage early in design and planning phases to embed security from the start (“shift-left security”).
Implement automated controls to enforce policies without slowing delivery.
Maintain transparent communication with regular security updates and risk dashboards.
Align security KPIs with business and DevOps objectives.
Review code and approve pull requests for secure development practices.
Educate DevOps teams on secure coding and threat awareness.

Requirements:

Proven experience in security engineering, architecture, and automation in cloud environments.
Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and secure coding practices.
Experience with Azure and Kubernetes environments.
Ability to conduct independent security assessments and implement improvements.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
