Overview
As a Web Developer within the Website Management Unit, you will play a key role in the implementation, development, and maintenance of the European Parliament’s public websites and supporting digital platforms. You will contribute to building multilingual, high‑quality, secure, and scalable online experiences, collaborating closely with editorial, design, and technical teams.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and maintain software applications using modern web technologies.
Propose innovative, trending, and technically appropriate solutions aligned with functional and architectural requirements.
Model, test, and integrate new features and applications into the online environment.
Perform corrective, preventive, and evolutionary maintenance.
Lead and coordinate workshops, and contribute to the creation of project documentation.
Share knowledge and best practices with the development team.
Collaborate continuously with editorial and conception teams to ensure smooth content operations.
Ensure all websites and applications meet non-functional requirements (quality, security, performance, scalability, maintainability, etc.).
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
4 to 7 years of professional experience in modern web development.
Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
Experience building applications using modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, Astro, or similar).
Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (Strapi, Jahia, or comparable CMS).
Excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern styling methodologies (responsive design, component-based styling).
Experience integrating REST APIs.
Familiarity with build and packaging tools such as NPM, Webpack, and Vite.
Proficiency in version control and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Maven modules, Nexus).
Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong affinity for agile development methodologies.
Nice to Have
Practical experience developing with Strapi.
Experience designing content models and improving editorial workflows.
Knowledge of Server-Side Rendering (SSR).
Experience working with multi-site or multi-tenant platforms.
Understanding of web security best practices.
