AWS Development Lead (Contract) – Toronto

Contract Length: 6 months

Our client is seeking an experienced AWS Development Lead to design, build, and optimize backend cloud solutions in a high-impact environment. This role requires deep AWS expertise, strong backend development skills (JavaScript/TypeScript), and the ability to lead developers while shaping scalable cloud architectures.

What You’ll Do

Build backend solutions using AWS Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and CDK
Translate requirements into detailed designs and secure, high-performing code
Evaluate solution trade-offs and recommend optimal cloud architectures
Lead development initiatives and support business-critical project deliverables
Collaborate with stakeholders and provide technical guidance
Continuously improve systems within an Agile environment

Must-Have Qualifications

5+ years hands-on AWS experience
5+ years backend JavaScript & TypeScript
AWS CDK, Lambda, DynamoDB, ECS, API Gateway, ECR, IAM, Security Groups
Experience leading technical development teams
Strong understanding of scalable, high-volume, high-availability cloud systems
Excellent communication

Nice-to-Have

DevOps experience
Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
