Background

Major Purpose

The Client and Funding Services (CFS) Fellow will work closely with the funding and/or outreach teams to support ongoing process improvement projects. The CFS Team Fellow may also support team members in some of the tasks associated with some phases of the client funding life cycle including reviewing leads, opportunities, pre-applications, and application packages for completeness, as well as reviewing of completion reports and triple bottom line reports.

Key Roles And Deliverables

Working closely with the Green Municipal Fund’s CFS Team, a summer fellow would support on the following tasks:

Funding Team (80%):

The specific focus of the Fellowship will depend on the needs and priorities of the CFS team.
Special Funding Process Improvement Projects:
Support ongoing process improvements in opportunities, leads, pre-applications, full applications, contracting or disbursement processes with a focus on improving client service, including developing and updating internal and external tools and templates.
Support to team members working on GMF’s Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) and Grants and Loans Management System (GLMS) within the Cloud.

Results Review

Conduct system-led review and analysis to identify patterns and trends in client proposals, service standards, and reporting results.
Conduct detailed reviews of funded projects using completion and triple bottom line reports as well as occasionally contacting clients to obtain additional project information.

Funding Or Outreach Support

Review client submissions for completion and adherence to eligibility criteria for the CFS team offer(s) Drafting project summaries Review of project progress and completion reports

Secondary component (20%); Jack Layton Fellowship Project:

Work collaboratively within a team of other fellows selected from various FCM departments.
Continue the development of a campaign to commemorate Jack Layton’s work.  This campaign will focus on youth engagement in local communities with an emphasis on participation in municipal issues.

Education

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Working towards Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environment studies, urban planning, engineering, or related fields; or
Working towards a Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental studies, urban planning, engineering, or related fields.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience

Familiarity with sustainability projects in the municipal sector. Strong research and analytical skills – able to conduct rigorous research, summarize findings and present recommendations;
Professional writing and material development skills - ability to write succinct reports
Familiarity with energy efficiency for buildings is a strong asset
Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
