The Opportunity

Sanctuary Graduates is proud to partner with ghd, a global leader in high-end professional hair styling tools. We are seeking a curious and driven undergraduate for a 1-year Hair Science Placement based in ghd’s dedicated R&D laboratories in Cambridge.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between pure science and luxury beauty. You won't just be observing; you will be making technical measurements on hair and analysing data to drive decisions in live innovation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Development: Develop expertise in laboratory-based methods for hair array shape and hair damage measurement.
Innovation: Contribute ideas for the innovation pipeline, including new product claims and demonstrations.
Intellectual Property: Support the creation of patented technology and new hair science methodologies.
Project Ownership: In the second half of your year, you will own and complete an individually-tailored research project to showcase your skills.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with stylists, engineers, and marketing teams to build product value propositions.

Requirements

Essential:

Currently an undergraduate studying Cosmetic Science, Materials Science, Physics, or Engineering.
Seeking a 1-year commercial placement as part of your degree.
Resourceful with creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and grow into an autonomous team member.

Desirable:

An interest in the scientific principles of gathering robust technical data.
Curiosity regarding complex fibre arrays and moisture-sensitive substrates like human hair.
