The Senior Java Developer is responsible to design, develop, implementation and support of back end software components. The individual works with architects, other developers, QA specialists, DevOps and business systems analysts in an agile manner to create quality, high-performance applications for our customers, partners and internal users. This individual will work with Software Development leadership team to help make architectural recommendations/decisions on various software platforms.
Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.
Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Software Development

Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $ $100,000 - $142,000.
Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Individual job offers are determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
Your Moneris Career - What You'll Do
Design and build scalable backend services and modern web interfaces, contributing across the full stack as needed.
Design and maintain APIs and service-to-service integrations across multiple systems.
Contribute to system architecture, technical design, and implementation strategy for new and evolving services.
Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorization flows.
Integrate applications with enterprise platforms such as CRM, content, and data systems.
Build data flows and event-driven pipelines to support product features, automation, and reporting.
Collaborate with AI/GenAI platforms to integrate intelligent automation, conversational experiences, or predictive capabilities into digital products.
Manage cloud infrastructure and deployments using Infrastructure as Code.
Partner with Product, Data, and business teams to translate requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
Participate in Agile planning, estimation, and delivery to ensure reliable execution.
Produce high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code, and uphold engineering discipline through code reviews, design discussions, and documentation.
Act as a technical mentor, helping raise the capability of other engineers through feedback, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
Continuously evolve the team’s architecture, tooling, and development practices to improve speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
Your Moneris Career - What You Bring
7+ years of experience building production-grade software systems.
Strong experience with full-stack development, including backend and frontend components.
Experience building and maintaining APIs or service-based architectures.
Experience implementing authentication and authorization flows.
Strong knowledge of Shift Left SDLC practices, including unit testing (JUnit) and integration testing.
Solid SQL and data modeling skills.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Experience using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
Experience working in Agile teams using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Strong Assets
Experience integrating with enterprise platforms (CRM, payments, identity, or content systems).
Experience working with AI or GenAI platforms, such as intelligent assistants or predictive systems, to deliver personalized or automated digital experiences.
Familiarity with analytics, logging, monitoring, or event-driven architecture.
Experience in fintech, SaaS, or regulated environments.
A track record of influencing technical direction and improving engineering practices
