IT Manager & Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Aldershot, Hampshire

£55,000–£70,000

Our client is a well established SME in the marketing and manufacturing sector and they are looking for a hands-on IT Manager & statutory DPO to take full ownership of its IT estate, security framework and data protection function.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a senior, visible role combining operational IT leadership with strategic oversight — covering infrastructure, cloud (AWS/Azure), cybersecurity, Sage systems, networks, telephony, backups/DR and vendor management.

A major focus of the role is driving responsible AI adoption — implementing governed use of tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT/OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude and Google Gemini to improve automation, efficiency and business insight.

• Own day-to-day IT operations (1st–final line support, M365, servers, endpoints, networks)

• Lead cybersecurity, incident response & compliance (EDR, vulnerability management)

• Act as statutory DPO (GDPR governance, SARs, DPIAs, breach management)

• Manage ERP/Payroll/CRM systems and business integrations

• Drive AI governance and deliver production-ready AI integrations

• Oversee backups, disaster recovery testing, vendor contracts & IT roadmap

Skills

• 5+ years’ hands-on IT leadership within an SME

• Strong Microsoft 365/Azure/Entra ID and AWS experience

• Windows Server, Linux, SQL Server & networking expertise

• ERP/CRM ownership experience (Sage highly desirable)

• Proven security and incident response capability

• Practical experience integrating and governing Generative AI/LLMs
