Senior Privacy & Data Protection Consultant

Location: London (Hybrid – approximately 2 days in office)

About the role

My client are seeking an experienced Privacy & Data Protection Consultant to lead client engagements and support organisations in building effective, practical privacy programmes. The role focuses on translating regulatory requirements into workable controls that help organisations manage personal data responsibly while enabling business objectives.

Key responsibilities

Lead privacy advisory engagements from discovery and assessment through to implementation and programme improvement.
Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical governance frameworks, processes, and controls.
Advise on personal data use in complex B2C and Financial Services environments, including customer lifecycle data, marketing, analytics, and employee datasets.
Design and improve privacy frameworks including DPIAs, LIAs, ROPAs, retention schedules, privacy notices, vendor due diligence, cross-border transfers, and incident response processes.
Support clients in navigating privacy risks, regulatory developments, and complex decision-making.
Contribute to proposals, reusable frameworks, and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

Significant hands-on experience in data protection and privacy.
Experience in Financial Services environments.
A combination of consulting/advisory and in-house privacy roles.
Strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation, with awareness of global privacy regulations.
Experience delivering DPIAs, LIAs, transfer risk assessments, vendor due diligence, and privacy governance frameworks.
Familiarity with privacy tools (e.g. OneTrust, TrustArc) or standards such as ISO/IEC 27701.
Professional privacy qualification such as BCS/ISEB or equivalent preferred.

Success in the role

Acting as a trusted advisor across multiple client engagements.
Delivering measurable improvements in client privacy maturity and governance.
Supporting business development and contributing reusable methods and templates for the wider team.
