Senior Python Developer (Contract) – Trading Technology | London | Hybrid | £850/day -INSIDE IR35

A leading London-based multi-commodity trading organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer on a contract basis to support and lead development across a suite of business-critical trading applications.

This is a high-impact assignment offering strong technical ownership, hands-on engineering, and architectural influence within a fast-paced trading environment.

You will be actively involved in development while ensuring stability and reliability across production services.

Key responsibilities include:

Maintaining and enhancing business-critical trading systems
Diagnosing and optimising performance issues in Python applications
Acting as the technical liaison across teams and stakeholders
Supporting architectural consistency and best practices
Managing technical debt and contributing to forward roadmaps

Technical Requirements:

Python 3.12+
NumPy & Pandas for data processing
JavaScript / TypeScript
A strongly typed language (C#, Java or similar)
SQL Server and relational databases
MongoDB or large-scale dataset environments
Azure DevOps with Git-based workflows
Client-server architecture and API development
Performance optimisation and scalability tuning
Exposure to streaming APIs (advantageous)

Other beneficial experience:

Proven track record delivering complex, business-critical systems
Comfortable operating in fast-moving, commercially driven environments
Strong stakeholder engagement skills
Able to work autonomously with minimal oversight
Passion for clean, maintainable code and engineering excellence
