Workonomics are partnering with a deep-tech startup using foundational AI research at web scale to map market structure across thousands of industries.

They process hundreds of terabytes of data and develop novel embedding methods to model and solve a really complex problem: how do companies reliably track who competes with whom, and how that changes over time? Their work directly informs investment theses and strategies for leading private equity companies.

With backing from top investors, healthy runway, and Series A on the horizon, they’re now getting the product enterprise-ready, and have a clear roadmap to execute on.

They're hiring a Mid-Level Analytics Engineer to help with:

Data modelling & transformation: design, build, and maintain data models and pipelines using SQLMesh. Convert raw data into reliable, tested datasets and features for their core web application and internal tools
Analysing & transforming data: explore massive datasets to uncover insights, develop new metrics, and transform data into user-facing features for the product
Data preparation for R&D: source, clean, and structure datasets for the Chief Data Scientist and research teams, preparing high-quality data for ML experiments
Dashboard development: build and maintain dashboards to track key metrics, translating complex data insights for non-technical stakeholders

They're looking for someone experienced with as much of the following as possible:

Data transformation: proficient with SQL-based tools such as dbt or SQLMesh
SQL: experience in data modelling, complex queries, and performance optimisation
Python: for data manipulation and scripting
Dashboard & visualisation: creating interactive dashboards (PowerBI, Hex, Posthog or similar)
Data warehousing: ClickHouse or equivalent such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
Data quality obsession: meticulous about data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
Bonus: Familiarity with financial modelling and metrics is a plus.
A passion for open source (half of the current team were found through their contributions)
