About The Role
We are partnering with a leading Fortune 50 retailer known for its large-scale digital ecosystem and emphasis on innovative, guest-centric experiences. Our client is investing heavily in modern front-end technologies and design system advancement, and they are seeking a Senior Front End Developer to contribute to highly scalable, performant, and accessible user interfaces.
In this role, you’ll influence technical decisions, guide front-end architecture, and contribute to the evolution of enterprise-level design systems. You will work within a collaborative product engineering environment, helping shape the next generation of digital experiences used by millions of customers.
Job Description
As a Senior Front End Developer, you will apply deep technical expertise across modern JavaScript frameworks and UI engineering practices. You’ll evaluate emerging technologies, lead proof-of-concept initiatives, and help define the long-term direction of front-end platforms.
You will participate in and often lead core engineering activities including code reviews, design reviews, testing, debugging, and architecture discussions. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust implementation aligned with architectural standards, operational requirements, and product goals.
Key Responsibilities Include
Researching and assessing new technologies for viability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
Leading design and lifecycle management for front-end services and components.
Conducting code reviews, design reviews, and application-level debugging.
Guiding functional design and architecture discussions using system diagrams and process flows.
Executing both routine and complex implementation, automation, and construction tasks.
Driving best practices around scalability, performance, repeatability, and security.
Contributing to and scaling enterprise-wide design systems.
Communicating Agile concepts clearly to product and engineering partners.
Maintaining deep technical knowledge in relevant front-end disciplines.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of professional software development experience
Extensive experience building and scaling design systems for consistent, accessible, and efficient UI
Strong proficiency with React.js
Expert-level CSS, including experience with CSS modules or styled-components
Strong JavaScript fundamentals
Experience delivering high-performance, low-latency front-end solutions
Ability to design new testing approaches and independently resolve complex technical issues
Experience with custom build solutions, package configuration, and deployment workflows
Proven ability to write clean, well-organized code across multiple languages and frameworks
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and support team priorities in cross-functional environments
Strong awareness of modern digital platform capabilities and industry standards
Ability to stay current with emerging front-end technologies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Next.js
Experience influencing engineering standards, policies, or best practices
Understanding of competitor products and differentiating features within large-scale retail or e-commerce ecosystems
