About the Opportunity
CareerTakes is sourcing on behalf of a confidential technology team in the Bay Area looking for a Software Engineer I to join their engineering org. This role is designed for early-career engineers who are passionate about clean code, learning quickly, and contributing to real product outcomes with mentorship and support.
As a Software Engineer I, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement features, troubleshoot issues, and help drive engineering excellence across projects.
What You’ll Work On
Support the development and implementation of system components
Organize assignments, balance priorities, and distinguish urgent vs. important work
Work with relational databases and contribute to basic SQL tasks
Analyze system behavior and participate in solution design
Communicate clearly with teammates and project leads
Participate in design discussions and iterative problem-solving
Apply core engineering practices (version control, debugging, testing)
Contribute to team deliverables with guidance from senior engineers
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
Up to 1 year of relevant experience (academics, internships, research projects, capstones)
Familiarity with one or more languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar
Basic comfort with relational databases and simple SQL queries
Exposure to Git/version control and debugging practices
Preferred:
1+ years of real-world software development experience
Able to learn quickly and apply knowledge to solve problems
Good communicator and collaborative team member
Organized and able to meet deadlines consistently
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary in the range of approximately $74,000 — $116,000, depending on experience and location. Additional benefits may include medical, retirement plans, learning/development support, and other standard perks.
