About the Role

We are working in partnership with an NHS Trust in Salisbury recruit a Consultant Urologist to join a well-established and supportive urology service.

The post is offered on a whole-time basis (10 PAs); however, part-time working, job sharing, and other flexible working arrangements will be fully considered for suitably qualified applicants and discussed at shortlisting stage. Applications are welcomed from established consultants and senior trainees who will be within six months of completing specialist training at the time of the Advisory Appointments Committee.

The successful candidate will have completed specialist training in urology and be entered on the GMC Specialist Register prior to taking up post.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver consultant-level urology care, applying sound clinical judgement and evidence-based practice.
Manage complex clinical cases, including effective risk assessment, prioritisation, and escalation where appropriate.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality patient outcomes and service efficiency.
Support and contribute to clinical governance, audit activity, and learning from incidents.
Actively contribute to the development and improvement of urology services, aligned with Trust and NHS performance targets.
Balance individual clinical responsibilities with departmental and Directorate priorities.
Participate in the education and training of junior doctors, trainees, and other healthcare professionals.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Specialist Training

Essential

Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Urology
Full GMC registration with Licence to Practise

Clinical Experience & Skills

Essential

Evidence of experience working at consultant level in urology
Strong clinical judgement with a clear, logical, and analytical approach to decision-making
Experience managing clinical risk and prioritising patient need
Knowledge and application of up-to-date evidence-based practice

Management & Leadership

Essential

Ability to work effectively within, and contribute to, a multidisciplinary team
Commitment to meeting Trust and NHS performance targets
Capacity to manage and prioritise workload effectively
Active commitment to clinical governance and service improvement
Ability to motivate, support, and develop colleagues

Teaching, Audit & Research

Essential

Demonstrated commitment to teaching and developing others
Ability to teach and inspire trainees and colleagues
Experience in clinical audit and applying research findings to clinical practice
