Overview

We are seeking a Mid Level Backend Software Engineer to contribute to the modernization of existing Java EE / JSP based enterprise applications into a Spring Boot microservices architecture. This role is focused on hands on development, refactoring, integration, and support, working under guidance from senior engineers.

AI assisted tools and LLMs will be used to support code understanding, analysis, and documentation, with all outputs validated by the engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new backend features and integrations in existing Java EE applications.

• Contribute to modernization and refactoring of legacy codebases to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Develop and consume RESTful APIs as part of the microservices transformation.

• Assist in converting SOAP based services to RESTful services.

• Collaborate with UI developers to support frontend integration needs.

• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure quality and reliability.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend defects and production issues.

• Use AI / LLM based tools to assist with:

o Legacy code comprehension

o Dependency analysis

o Documentation generation

• Validate AI generated outputs and apply engineering judgment.

• Follow established coding standards, design patterns, and best practices.

• Collaborate with product owners, senior engineers, QA, and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 2–4 years of professional experience in Java software development.

• Proficiency in Java EE, with experience developing enterprise-level applications.

• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development and UI updates.

• Experience with modernizing legacy code and integrating new features into existing systems.

• Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
