Lingopal is a fast-growing AI media and language technology company transforming how global audiences connect through live translation, AI commentary, and multilingual content. We work primarily with sports leagues, broadcasters, and media companies, while also supporting enterprise customers in adjacent industries where multilingual video and live content are mission-critical. Backed by strong customer traction and a growing enterprise pipeline, we're building a performance-driven team focused on execution, revenue, and scale.
We're establishing our engineering headquarters in Palo Alto and are hiring this role remote to start, with the expectation of transitioning to in-person as we build out the office.
The Role
We're looking for a Software Engineer to help shape the future of how the world consumes content. At Lingopal, we believe everyone should be able to experience content from anywhere in a language they truly understand.
You'll be working at the heart of our real-time translation pipeline — designing and building the systems that ingest live streams, split audio and video, synthesize translated audio in the listener's native language, and seamlessly reintegrate it back into the video stream with minimal latency. You'll have a unique opportunity to define technology that doesn't yet exist. We're looking for someone with a clear technical vision, the experience to articulate complex tradeoffs in a well-architected system, the skill to build it, and the wisdom to bring a team along with them.
Our current pipeline is built in Rust, and familiarity with Rust or other systems languages such as C++ or Go is a plus. That said, we value engineers who can reason deeply about performance and concurrency regardless of the specific language — and who are excited to grow with the stack as it evolves.
This is a high-ownership role. You'll work closely with engineering leadership and have meaningful influence over how we architect and scale our services. We believe in-person collaboration creates faster feedback loops and sharper execution — which is why this role will be based out of our Palo Alto office. What You'll Work On
Design and build real-time audio/video processing pipelines
Implement and optimize demuxing and muxing for live stream audio replacement
Integrate ASR, translation, and TTS services into a low-latency streaming pipeline
Build async, high-throughput backend services
Instrument services with OpenTelemetry for tracing, metrics, and observability
Design autoscaling strategies using KEDA and Kubernetes for event-driven workloads
Contribute to post-incident reviews and help drive reliability improvements
Job Requirements
4+ years of software engineering experience
Familiarity with Python, Rust, Go, C++, or similar languages
Experience building sub-second latency systems in production
Experience building and operating distributed systems in production on Kubernetes
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Sentry, or similar
Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where you own problems end to end
Strong communication skills — you can explain complex tradeoffs clearly to both engineers and non-engineers
Nice to Have
Familiarity with gRPC and Protocol Buffers
Experience with real-time audio/video streaming protocols (SRT, RTMP, MPEG-TS, HLS, or similar)
Experience with FFmpeg, GStreamer, or similar media processing frameworks
Familiarity with TTS/ASR pipeline integration (ElevenLabs, AWS Transcribe, OpenAI, etc.)
Experience with KEDA or event-driven autoscaling on Kubernetes
Prior work at an early-stage startup or in a high-ownership engineering environment
