Technical Writer – Developer & Platform Documentation

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Technical Writer to lead the creation of developer and platform documentation for a modern smart building data platform. This platform serves as an independent data layer for IT and OT systems, enabling seamless data integration across connected environments.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical setting and can translate complex systems into clear, actionable content for developers and integration partners.

Key Responsibilities

Create and maintain developer documentation for REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, and event-driven systems
Write platform user guides, onboarding materials, and security hardening documentation
Document data import/export workflows involving JSON and CSV formats
Develop technical content for integration frameworks and IoT platform connectivity
Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to gather and validate technical information
Organize and publish documentation using Markdown, Confluence, and Git-based repositories
Ensure content is structured for discoverability, usability, and accessibility
Maintain version control and change logs for documentation updates

Required Qualifications

Proven experience writing technical documentation for SaaS platforms or developer tools
Strong understanding of:
REST APIs and HTTP protocols
GraphQL
Event-driven architectures and messaging systems
JSON and CSV data formats
Proficiency with documentation tools and platforms:
Markdown
Confluence
Git-based repositories (e.g., GitHub)
Ability to write for a technical audience, including developers and integration partners
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and project management abilities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with smart building technologies or IoT/data platforms
Familiarity with security best practices and writing hardening guides
Background in software development or systems integration
Knowledge of developer experience (DX) principles and API usability
