Description & Requirements

The Associate Analyst - Corporate Development would be responsible for helping drive the acquisition execution process. The candidate will be responsible for aspects of corporate deal-making, including target identification, valuation, due diligence, deal execution, and relationship development with appropriate third parties. The position will work closely with external stakeholders including banking, legal, accounting, tax and other advisors, and internal stakeholders including senior leadership of Maximus and functional area leads.

This full-time position is expected to be primarily in person with 4 days a week working on-site in McLean, VA. This position may require some travel, including outside of the US.

The corporate development team plays a critical role to drive shareholder value by leading strategic initiatives: identifying growth opportunities, helping maintain the company’s competitive position, evaluating new markets, identifying and evaluating actionable investment opportunities, and managing deal execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and work with the Corporate Development, Strategic Planning, and IRAD teams on various strategic initiatives.
Assist businesses in the strategic planning cycle with market research, strategic plan drafting, and logistical support.
Support financial due diligence, data analysis, and research on opportunities that directly impact corporate strategy.
Conduct data research and analysis to assist with determining areas for acquisition and recommend appropriate action.

Job Specific Duties:

Participate in the deal process from opportunity screening through deal completion.
Develop complex valuation models.
Develop complex financial models.
Support deal execution including target search, strategic and financial assessment, transaction structuring, due diligence and negotiations.
Plan and coordinate logistics related to deal and diligence activities.
Analyze potential synergies.
Help coordinate a cross-functional team through the due diligence process.
Develop relationships with corporate executives, business unit officers, target company management teams, and industry and professional networks.
Prepare detailed business cases and recommendations.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 0-3 years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1+ year of experience in corporate development, investment banking, transaction services, or public accounting and related advisory
In-depth understanding of transaction mechanics, especially buy-side.
Strong analytical and financial skills to work on complex financial transactions.
Ability to work with a large cross-functional team within a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills to work with senior executives across business units, targets and third parties.
Excellent project management and organization skills with strong attention to detail.
High level of energy, enthusiasm and commitment.
Team player, pro-active and action-oriented, assertive and highly accountable.
Understanding of M&A analysis and related issues, including intangibles valuation and acquisition accounting, and tax treatment of transaction structuring is preferred.
Understanding of the government services space (federal, state, local, and foreign), and the healthcare, BPM, digital transformation industries and other emerging technology areas are a plus.
