Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Cybersecurity Engineer 5. The work will be done onsite full-time in the Mossville or East Peoria, IL area. This is a 12-month long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $105/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a senior-level Cybersecurity Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise embedding cybersecurity into advanced digital products, platforms, and services. This role focuses on secure architecture, DevSecOps, vulnerability management, and cyber risk mitigation across connected systems and cloud-based solutions. The engineer will collaborate closely with business, engineering, and IT teams to define and execute cybersecurity strategies that support automation, autonomy, and large-scale digital initiatives. This position is ideal for a cybersecurity professional with deep technical breadth and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide cybersecurity leadership across product, platform, and solution development initiatives
• Integrate security best practices into SDLC and DevSecOps pipelines
• Perform architecture security reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments
• Drive vulnerability assessment, remediation strategies, and sustainable security operations
• Develop, track, and report cybersecurity metrics and risk indicators to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, or Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience
• Extensive experience across cybersecurity domains including secure architecture, risk management, and governance
• Hands-on experience with industry standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, NIST 800-82, ISA/IEC 62443, OWASP, or EU-CRA
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, DevOps tooling, API and web services security, and identity & access management
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, CSSLP, GPEN, or similar)
• Experience securing connected assets, embedded systems, or industrial/OT environments
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical risk to non-technical audiences
