Akkodis is seeking a FIX Client Enablement Specialist for a contract position with our Fortune 500 banking client.
Rate: $45 - $48/hr W2. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Location: New York, NY (hybrid onsite 3 days a week)
Overview:
The Equities Electronic Client Enablement - FIX Specialist will support and contribute to onboarding, certifying, and maintaining electronic equities clients. This role requires a solid working knowledge of the FIX protocol, equity trading workflows, and client connectivity. The specialist will manage standard onboarding tasks independently, assist with more complex implementations, and help troubleshoot production issues alongside senior team members. The position involves coordinating with internal technology, trading, and support teams to ensure smooth client connectivity and a high-quality electronic trading experience. The candidate is expected to act as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders, driving delivery across multiple teams while ensuring production stability and a high-quality client experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Enablement FIX Onboarding
Support end-to-end electronic client onboarding for Equities, including FIX connectivity setup, certification testing, and assisting with production go-live activities.
Handle FIX certification issues, client questions, and production incidents by troubleshooting and escalating more complex matters to senior team members as needed.
Partner with clients, vendors, and fund administrators to gather technical and functional requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
Assist with client onboarding processes for both Equities and Swap electronic trading workflows.
Coordinate and execute comprehensive end-to-end testing to ensure production readiness and minimal post-go-live risk.
Production Support Operational Ownership
Provide support for Electronic Trading applications by performing regular monitoring, health checks, and readiness activities to help ensure system stability and client connectivity.
Respond to trading desk data requests and time-sensitive queries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Oversee deployment of daily changes to the electronic trading stack in line with change-management and release processes
Technology Delivery Change Management
Implement and validate changes in UAT and pre-production environments, coordinating testing with internal teams and external clients
Work closely with development teams on new functionality, enhancements, and defect remediation
Partner with infrastructure and network teams to enable client connectivity (e.g., firewall rules, port configurations)
Participate in and support platform migrations and strategic initiatives, performing full end-to-end validation
Identify opportunities to improve client onboarding, certification, and support processes
Contribute to or lead tooling and automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and operational risk
Promote operational excellence through improved documentation, standardization, and metrics
Independently manage multiple onboarding and change initiatives in parallel
Maintain clear, proactive communication with global stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, and dependencies
Produce and maintain project-level documentation, operational runbooks, and support metrics
Required Experience:
5-8 years of experience in electronic trading, FIX client enablement, or production support within capital markets
Proven experience operating independently in a front-office-aligned or client-facing technology role
Mandatory Skills
Deep hands-on expertise in FIX Protocol (FIX 4.2 / 4.4), including onboarding and certification
Strong understanding of electronic equities trading, including DMA and algorithmic trading workflows
Solid knowledge of equity, swap, and bond trade lifecycles
Experience working directly with sales and trading desks in a production environment
Strong UNIX/Linux skills, including shell scripting
Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (Oracle / Exadata / SQL Server / Sybase)
Advanced Excel skills, including VBA scripting
Working knowledge of XML or similar markup languages
Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Release Management)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure trading environment
Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence across teams
B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech / BCA / MCA (IT / Computer Science preferred)
Desired Skills:
Broader markets knowledge including Futures and Options
Prior experience in Equities Electronic Trading or Client Enablement teams
