IT Project Manager
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Redwood City, CA Hybrid (2 days per week onsite)
Pay Rate: $58.62 - $62.06/hr on W2
Position Overview
This IT Project Manager role reports to the IT Project Management Office (PMO), collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on critical technology projects—including discovery and implementation for enterprise applications, system integrations, collaboration tools, content management, cloud services, data analytics, research computing, information security, and privacy.
Manage multiple large, complex technical projects using best practices to drive continuous improvement, high-quality outcomes, and timely delivery within budget. Weigh stakeholder interests, exercise independent judgment, and focus 80% on project leadership and 20% on technical contributions. Handle vendor selection, SaaS implementations, development, IT infrastructure, and application upgrades simultaneously. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field and 8-10 years of related experience managing projects of extensive size/complexity and moderate performance risk, including planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting (or equivalent combination).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Highly effective written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
Strong experience managing SDLC and enterprise application projects.
Ability to assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.
Proven project management across integration, scope, time, cost, quality, HR, communications, risk, and procurement.
Balance customer expectations with project realities.
Resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem-solving skills.
Keen interpersonal and impact awareness.
Depth of knowledge in technical domains to deliver projects.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
Knowledge of PM tools and SDLC.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Developing/maintaining complex project plans with WBS.
People, change, risk, and conflict management.
Building/motivating cross-functional teams in consensus-driven environments.
Leading internal/external technical/business staff; aligning tech with business goals.
Leadership, negotiation, persuasion, and facilitation skills.
Navigating stress and deciding on complex problems.
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio), Smartsheet, ServiceNow PPM, Zoom, Slack.
Managing IT infrastructure, app/system integrations.
QA/testing practices; data integration; web app architecture; system architectures; OOL.
Certifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) strongly desired.
