We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in firmware development and embedded systems to join our team. In this role, you will define and specify interfaces between low-power embedded devices and cloud resources, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. You will also play a critical role in managing contractors, ensuring project timelines, quality, and technical alignment.

Outcomes in the first 3 months

You'll be supporting early stage OTS (off-the-shelf) and JDM (joint-development-model) programs. (: month 2)

Responsibilities
Define and specify interfaces and communication protocols between low-power embedded devices and converged platforms
Design and review firmware architectures, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and maintainability
Collaborate with hardware, software, and cloud teams to ensure seamless system integration
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, interface definitions, and design guidelines
Evaluate, select, and manage contractors for hardware development
Ensure contractor deliverables meet quality, schedule, and performance requirements
Lead technical reviews, troubleshoot complex system issues, and drive resolution across teams
Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in embedded systems and firmware development
Requirements
5+ years of experience in firmware development and embedded systems engineering
Strong system-level thinking and ability to bridge hardware, firmware, and software components
Experience working with wireless and IoT technologies
Previous experience specifying and managing contractor deliverables
Nice to Haves:
Experience with ARM embedded systems and higher-level software stacks
Familiarity with LoraWan and BLE
Familiarity with battery-powered devices
Knowledge of security best practices in embedded systems
Experience with agile development methodologies
Compliance and type approvals for a Global market (CE, UKCA, FCC, IC, etc)
