Frontend Developer (Public Sector Projects)
Location: Reading, Oxford, or Swindon (Candidates must be willing to travel to London bi-weekly)
iO associates are working closely with a leading consultancy in the public sector, seeking an experienced Frontend Developer to join their dynamic team.
This role involves working on impactful government-related projects, contributing to the development of high-quality digital services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modern frontend technologies and frameworks, with a keen focus on accessibility, usability, and performance in public sector applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, test, and maintain high-quality frontend applications for government and public sector projects.
Ensure web applications meet accessibility and security standards in line with government digital service guidelines.
Collaborate with backend developers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to deliver user-centric digital solutions.
Optimize application performance and scalability to support a broad range of users and devices.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, providing technical expertise and contributing to continuous improvement.
Work with RESTful APIs, integrating with backend services and government data platforms.
Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to public sector digital services.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proficiency in modern frontend technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and TypeScript.
Experience with frontend build tools and state management libraries (e.g., Webpack, Redux, or Vuex).
Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and government digital service (GDS) design principles.
Experience with unit testing and end-to-end testing (e.g., Jest, Cypress, or Mocha).
Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Previous experience working on public sector or government-related projects.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with cloud-based environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth, JWT, SAML).
Experience with Headless CMS or static site generators.
