We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Clinical System team at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group, as an Integration Specialist.

The Clinical Systems service is responsible for the support, maintenance, and development of UHNs clinical and diagnostic applications, Integration, digital training, and the Medical Records Department at NGH.

As Integration Specialist you will be responsible for the management, development and configuration of the Trust's Rhapsody Integration Engines to support all interfacing activities. Ensuring secure and effective transmission of mission critical information between clinical and other information systems, predominantly via HL7 messaging, XML and FHIR / APIs.

Main duties of the job

As Integration Specialist you will report into the Integration Manager be responsible for the day-to-day operation of your activities and staff.

You will manage the integration activities and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations to meet operational SLAs and standards across the group.

You will have autonomy to achieve objectives, as per trust priorities, acting as a lead specialist in your own area.

You will manage project activity daily through work planning, prioritisation and delegation, escalating risks and issues where appropriate.

Expert technical knowledge and demonstrable experience of Microsoft SQL Server, HL7 messaging standards and Integration Engines such as Rhapsody will be essential as will significant experience of working in a clinical systems integration role within the NHS.

You will continually horizon scan for advancements in technology and contributing to the Group Digital Strategy long term vision for joined up clinical applications.

You will seek innovative ways of using technology to support working practices and streamline processes within the Department, Directorate and the Trust.

Key Deliverables

Providing leadership to ensure efficient, integrated and customer-focused services to all staff, supporting the team to ensure that services provided across the group are and continue to be effective, meet the clinical and business needs of the Group, and represent best value for money.

Configuration of the TIE and support for all interfacing activities. Ensuring secure and effective transmission of mission critical information between clinical and other information systems.

You will constantly review integration architecture and using your expert knowledge will implement improvement plans and lead on delivery to ensure systems are reliable and resilient, and that robust arrangements for maintenance are in place and regularly reviewed.

Creation and maintenance of an integration architecture map to manage the various system integration points during the system and upgrade lifecycle, acting as the technical expert for all integration.

Ensure effective service delivery monitoring is in place, with up-to-date dashboards for service reporting purposes.

Liaise with colleagues (such as the EPR Programme Manager, Integration Manager and EPR Integration Lead) to enable creativity and innovation around the future provision of integrated solutions in support of the Digital Strategy.

Establish key relationships within the Service Delivery Team to enable all incident and service requests to be responded to within the departments SLAs and in line with departmental policy.

Work with the Trusts Information Security Manager to ensure that Trust EPR systems are compliant with best practice and conform to standards expected in the security section of the IG Toolkit. Provide evidence of effective security controls for the purpose of the annual IG Toolkit Submission to HSCIC.

Support project developments that involve integration - scoping, costing, development, testing and release management of new and potentially novel solutions.

You will be a key member of the ICT change advisory board (CAB).

Lead on business cases and support longer term business planning for the implementation and strategic development of electronic patient records and diagnostic systems within the Trust.

Negotiate with external organisations over service issues where the issue may be highly complex e.g. third-party suppliers, other NHS organisations, to ensure any outstanding issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the Trust.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective integration of the Clinical Applications with other systems with the aim of maximising the efficiency of the clinical workflow overall, and longer-term business planning.

You will implement and propose continuous improvements to business continuity and disaster recovery plans in relation to all integration flows supported by the team.

Champion and role model the Groups values and behaviours and support others in doing so to deliver the Group Vision and Mission successfully.
