Primarily a Contract Role (however, full or part-time considered) design engineer with at least 4 - 5 years experience.

You will be reporting directly to the Technical Manager and your main responsibilities will be the design and development of PLC Software and Motor control activities.

Controls System Engineer Requirements
A good understanding of control system principles
Able to read and produce electrical schematic diagrams
Experience with using various PLC Hardware
HMI display (Human Machine Interface) programming
Ability to write programs using Ladder Logic or Structured Text
An understanding of the MODBUS communications architecture
Experience of using Servo Motors and have an understanding of some of their key principles
Good Knowledge of using test equipment i.e. DVM’s, oscilloscopes, protocol analysers etc.
Experience with using LabVIEW (non-essential requirement)
A good understanding of Test & Measurement Principles
Ability to take designs from initial concept through to successful completion
Championing initiatives that could reduce carbon & manufacturing costs
Personal & Educational Requirements
Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of Control Systems
Engineering Degree, HND/HNC or Level 5 GCSE's or greater
Ability to self-manage tasks and time
Proficient with the use of Microsoft Spreadsheets
Good analytical skills
Good numeracy, accuracy, attention to detail
The ability to follow through a task to their successful conclusion
The ability to learn and absorb new information and training

You will get the opportunity to be involved in small and manageable projects for the company. Training will also be provided as part of your learning journey, from concept and specification, design through prototyping and testing in preparation for manufacture. A keen and responsible attitude to work and an ability to show initiative in all tasks is a must.
