Software Team Manager | Surgical Robotics
Montpellier, France (On-site)

We’re partnering with a well-funded surgical robotics company developing a next-generation platform to address a significant unmet need in precision surgery. As they prepare for clinical trials and begin building version two of their system, they’re hiring a Software Team Manager to lead their growing engineering function.

The Role
This is a critical leadership position within the engineering team. You’ll bring structure to the chaos, ensuring the software development process is clear, efficient, and scalable. The team currently sits at 12 engineers and will grow to around 20 in the near term.

You will oversee development across a complex, shared codebase with real-time software, imaging, and AI components. Working closely with hardware, systems, and product teams, you’ll ensure technical alignment and team productivity in a highly regulated environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading a growing team of software engineers and shaping the engineering culture
Driving agile delivery practices across multidisciplinary squads
Supporting architectural direction and release planning
Managing team performance, development, and day-to-day problem-solving
Coordinating closely with cross-functional stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

Experience managing software teams in high-stakes or safety-critical environments
Strong technical background in C++ and systems-level software
Comfortable working across large codebases with multiple teams and branches
Solid understanding of agile methodologies and regulated development environments
Ideally, experience in medical devices, robotics, or imaging software
Strong communication and people management skills
