About Us

The Institut Curie, a key player in the fight against cancer, combines a hospital and a research center with over 1,000 staff members. Its goal is to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and treatments through a continuum between basic research and innovation. The position is funded by the Institute of Women’s Cancers, an interdisciplinary initiative aiming for comprehensive care of breast and gynecological cancers, recognized as a University Hospital Institute (IHU) under the France 2030 program.

Mission

Scientific context

Age is the main risk factor for most women's cancer. However, how the age of the patient shapes women's cancer is unknown. Previous research in several labs at Institut Curie have identified novel mechanisms relevant to cancer and aging. Within the IHU, the lab of Nicolas Manel is leading a collaborative working group with several other labs to explore the relevance of these mechanisms in women's cancer.

Goal of the position

The goal of the position is to analyze clinically-rich genomics datasets to uncover age-related signatures and their potential relevance to cancer development and cancer immunity. Starting with existing bulk genomics datasets, obtained in-house or from public repositories, the position will evolve during the duration of the contract to integrate new projects and types of data. The main goal of the position is to obtain publishable scientific results that will contribute to future publications by the teams.

As Part Of Your Responsibilities, You Will

Obtain and curate in-house and public datasets under the supervision of the research teams
Implement and apply existing bioinformatics methods
Deliver publication-grade results, reports, and material.
Participate in the scientific life of the leading teams and the IHU.
Coordinate the links between the labs and the IHU on the projects.
Follow the Good Practices of the Institut Curie Bioinformatic Cluster

All Our Opportunities Are Open To Individuals With Disabilities.

Organization of position

The position will be organized in the framework of a highly dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. The position will be initially assigned to the lab of Nicolas Manel in the scope of IHU. During the duration of the contract, the assignment will evolve according to scientific priorities.
