Mainframe Architect
Location: Fully Remote from UK, Europe or India
Type: Contract
Duration: 24 Months

I’m hiring on behalf of my client, a forward-thinking enterprise undergoing a strategic transformation of its legacy systems. They are looking for a Mainframe Database Modernisation Specialist with deep expertise in legacy database technologies and a passion for bringing critical infrastructure into the modern cloud era.

Required Skills & Experience
Expertise in one or more core mainframe database technologies such as:
IBM DB2™, IBM IMS Database, Cincom Supra, Software AG Adabas, Broadcom Datacom.
Strong understanding of performance tuning, capacity management, and high availability for large-scale database systems.
Proven ability to communicate the business value of modernising legacy databases, including the latest features and functions.
Proficient in mainframe subsystems and query languages:
z/OS, JCL, JES, RACF/ACF2, CICS, COBOL, PL/1, SQL, Natural, etc.

Preferred Skills & Experience
Broad knowledge of IT concepts and enterprise-level system design.
Familiarity with design tools and methodologies for large-scale system transformations.
Strong analytical and reasoning skills to assess and propose modernization strategies.
Advanced certification in mainframe or database technologies is a plus.
Experience with hybrid cloud integration and unlocking value from mainframe-resident data.
Agile methodology experience (Kanban, SAFe, Scrum).
Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
