Recently rebranded, Pxa (pronounced Pik-sa) is an all-in-house marketing agency in the heart of Cardiff. Pxa was founded over a decade ago by CEO Darshan Patel, who was born and raised in Wales. Darshan decided the world needed a bit more personality in its pixels. During the rapid growth of our client base, we have the exciting opportunity to grow our Web Development Team with a new Full Stack Developer, who will assist the CEO, and Head of Web Development.

Role
The Full Stack Developer will help lead and manage the web development department, oversee the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of high-quality websites and web applications, and ensure they meet business requirements. This role includes hands-on development work (especially in WordPress and full-stack projects), technical leadership, and strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and excel at managing multiple development tasks across the stack. They should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and maintain clear, proactive communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
As a Full Stack Developer, you will have responsibilities to our teams and clients, alongside the wider business and stakeholders.
Architect and oversee the development of scalable, responsive websites and applications using WordPress, PHP, JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js), and other modern technologies.
Ensure the delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
Work closely with designers, project managers, SEO teams, and clients to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
Adhere to and maintain coding standards, version control practices, and development workflows.
Maintain and improve existing websites, ensuring high performance, security, and responsiveness.
Manage hosting environments and integrations with APIs, third-party services, and CMS platforms.
Ensure GDPR, accessibility, SEO, and performance best practices are integrated in all web solutions.
Be adaptable to new technologies and tools to improve development efficiency and product quality.
Assist in troubleshoot issues across the full technology stack.
Assist in leading and mentoring a team of web developers (front-end, back-end, WordPress specialists, and full-stack developers).
Coordinate with marketing and business teams.
Carry out other tasks as requested by Directors and Senior Management Team.

You will need:
4+ years of professional experience in web development, including hands-on full-stack and WordPress projects.
Advanced proficiency in WordPress, including custom theme and plugin development.
Strong command of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), SQL, and MySQL.
Practical experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js and back-end technologies like Node.js or Laravel.
Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and third-party integrations (e.g., CRMs, payment gateways).
Experience with Git version control and modern development workflows (CI/CD).
Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud platforms such as AWS, DigitalOcean, or Azure.
Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, performance optimisation, and web security best practices.
Ability to support in the leading and mentoring of a cross-functional development team in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
At least 2 years in a senior role within a web development team.
Professional certifications in technologies such as PHP, AWS, React, or WordPress
Experience managing hosting environments and complex deployments.
Knowledge of Laravel, React, or other modern frameworks.
Familiarity with GDPR compliance and best practices in data protection.
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and leading sprint-based projects.
A portfolio demonstrating past involvement in large-scale website or web application projects.
Prior experience aligning web strategy with marketing and business objectives.
