**Job Title:** Azure Architect (Principal Cloud Operations)
**Role Summary:**
Strategic technology leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex Azure cloud infrastructure and enterprise network architectures. Provides technical direction, mentorship, and governance across cloud operations, security, and cost‑optimization while collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams.
**Expectations:**
- 10+ years of experience in software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, or networking.
- 5+ years leading technical teams in an IT or consulting environment.
- 3+ years as lead architect/project manager for Azure solutions.
- Proven ability to drive architectural strategy, operational excellence, and vendor management.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead design and deployment of scalable, secure Azure environments (VMs, networking, storage, identity, security services).
- Define and implement business continuity, high‑availability, and disaster‑recovery strategies.
- Optimize cloud performance, cost, and security through monitoring, logging, and automation enhancements.
- Manage incident response for high‑severity production issues and coordinate with internal teams and vendors.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and staffing oversight for cloud engineering groups.
- Participate in Architecture Review Board to enforce standards and governance.
- Identify risks, enforce compliance, and work with cybersecurity/privacy teams on Azure security controls.
- Drive continuous learning programs (courses, certifications, conferences) for team skill development.
**Required Skills:**
- Deep expertise in Azure services: Virtual Machines, Azure AD/Entra ID, Networking (VNet, subnets, VPN, firewalls, load balancers), Storage, App Services, Security Center.
- Strong knowledge of Azure identity management, RBAC, and Azure AD/Entra integration.
- Proficiency with Azure monitoring tools (Log Analytics, Application Insights, Azure Monitor) and logging consolidation.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts and protocols.
- Expertise in cloud security best practices and governance frameworks.
- Experience with disaster recovery, backup, and high‑availability design in Azure.
- Budget planning, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and mentorship abilities.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Preferred Azure certifications: **Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert**, **Azure Administrator Associate**, or equivalent.
- Additional security or networking certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNP, Azure Security Engineer) are advantageous.
