Job Description
**Job Title:** Director of Engineering **Role Summary:** Lead the engineering and facilities function across a portfolio of boutique hotel properties. Drive safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations through strategic maintenance, capital planning, and energy initiatives. **Expectations:** * Demonstrated success in hotel or hospitality engineering leadership. * Experience managing multi‑site operations, teams, and contractors. * Proven ability to deliver capital and maintenance programmes on budget and schedule. **Key Responsibilities:** - Direct engineering and facilities operations for all London‑based hotel properties. - Develop, manage, and execute annual maintenance and capital expenditure (CAPEX) plans. - Oversee preventative maintenance, building systems performance, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. - Recruit, mentor, and manage on‑site engineering teams and external contractors. - Maintain health & safety programmes, risk registers, and emergency response protocols. - Collaborate with General Managers and senior leadership to align engineering objectives with business goals. - Lead energy‑efficiency and sustainability initiatives across the portfolio. - Respond promptly to critical incidents and operational emergencies. **Required Skills:** - Leadership and team management, including mentorship of technical staff. - Project management, including planning, budgeting, and execution of capital projects. - Technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems. - Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and risk management. - Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem‑solving abilities. - Commitment to sustainability and energy‑management best practices. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline. - Valid professional certifications such as PMP, Facility Management Professional (FMP), or equivalent HVAC/engineering credentials are highly desirable.
