**Job Title:**
Freelance Desktop Engineer – IT Network Support
**Role Summary:**
Provide on‑site L1/L2 desktop, server, and network support for end‑users and infrastructure on a contractual basis. Work under remote team direction to diagnose, repair, and maintain hardware, software, and networking components while adhering to ITIL processes.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver timely on‑site assistance (hourly, half‑day, or daily assignments).
- Follow remote team instructions and document all actions.
- Maintain high service quality and professionalism with clients and vendors.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Perform L1/L2 desktop support (hardware, software, peripherals, applications).
- Install, upgrade, and replace server/rack components (HDD, RAM, NICs, etc.).
- Provide “hands‑and‑eyes” support for routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Troubleshoot LAN/Wi‑Fi, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing, subnetting, and Ethernet issues.
- Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and user account management.
- Assist with incident, change, and release management per ITIL best practices.
- Service mobile devices (Windows, iOS, Android, BlackBerry) and related applications.
- Keep ticketing system updated, produce on‑site documentation, and manage IT assets.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and clients to resolve issues.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and suggest operational improvements.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems.
- Proficiency with networking concepts (LAN/Wi‑Fi, DHCP, DNS, IP subnetting, VLANs).
- Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Ability to install, configure, and replace server hardware components.
- Familiarity with ITIL incident, change, and release processes.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently on‑site and follow remote guidance.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications preferred: CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, Cisco CCNA, or ITIL Foundation.
