**Job Title:** Mainframe z/OS Storage Principal Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Design, implement, and manage enterprise‑class IBM z/OS environments, including storage, DB2, and MQ subsystems. Lead performance tuning, capacity planning, high‑availability/ disaster‑recovery architecture, automation, and security compliance for a banking/financial organization.
**Expactations:**
- Minimum 7 years of production support/operations experience on IBM z/OS platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to architect and lead complex mainframe solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Proven leadership in incident management, RCA, and change control.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Architect, configure, and maintain z/OS (JES2, RACF, SMP/E) environments.
- Administer mainframe storage (DASD, tape, virtual tape) using DFSMS, DFHSM, FDR/ABR.
- Design and manage DB2 for z/OS (subsystem config, buffer pool tuning, workload mgmt).
- Design and manage IBM MQ for z/OS (queue managers, channels, shared queues).
- Implement HA/DR solutions via sysplex, DB2 data sharing, MQ shared queues, coupling facilities.
- Perform performance tuning and capacity planning for DB2, MQ, z/OS, and storage.
- Automate provisioning, maintenance, and monitoring with REXX, JCL, IBM System Automation, BMC Control‑M/MainView.
- Monitor system health using RMF, OMEGAMON, IBM Data Server Manager, MQ Explorer, Z Monitoring Suite.
- Ensure security, compliance, and audit readiness (SOX, PCI, HIPAA).
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and data‑governance teams.
- Lead root‑cause analysis for incidents and develop long‑term fixes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and DR plans.
**Required Skills:**
- IBM z/OS (JES2, RACF, SMP/E) expertise.
- DB2 for z/OS (data sharing, performance tuning).
- IBM MQ for z/OS (shared queues, coupling facility).
- Mainframe storage technologies (DASD, VTS, DFSMS).
- Automation scripting (REXX, JCL) and tools (IBM System Automation, BMC Control‑M).
- Monitoring tools: RMF, OMEGAMON, IBM Data Server Manager, MQ Explorer.
- Performance tuning, capacity planning, HA/DR design.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- IBM certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator – z/OS, IBM Certified DB2 for z/OS Administrator) preferred but not mandatory.
