Job title: Senior IT Systems Engineer
Role Summary:
Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of scalable, secure IT infrastructure. Deliver high‑availability services across on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid environments. Automate operational workflows, resolve complex incidents, manage vendor relationships, and mentor junior engineers.
Expactations:
- Drive continuous performance, scalability, and security improvements.
- Ensure timely, high‑quality delivery of IT projects and support initiatives.
- Maintain customer‑focused service levels and strong cross‑functional collaboration.
- Stay current on industry trends and recommend innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage, scale, and secure servers, storage, networking, and cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
2. Monitor system performance and capacity; proactively resolve risks.
3. Resolve escalated support tickets, diagnose outages, and restore services swiftly.
4. Design, implement, and communicate IT projects; control scope, schedule, and budget.
5. Automate routine processes using scripting and workflow tools.
6. Administer firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and endpoint AV; configure DNS, DHCP, and IP settings.
7. Maintain asset inventories, lifecycle tracking, and procurement processes.
8. Train and guide support engineers on deployment procedures.
9. Research emerging technologies, evaluate and recommend enhancements.
10. Execute additional duties such as budgeting and special projects.
Required Skills:
- Strong networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, subnetting, Wi‑Fi, VPN, routing protocols, IP security.
- Cloud‑identity expertise (Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, Entra ID, Intune, Kandji, Zscaler, 1Password).
- Industrial cybersecurity knowledge and threat mitigation practices.
- Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Vendor management, project planning, and budget oversight.
- Technical leadership and mentoring of peers.
- Excellent communication, customer‑centric service, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong prioritization and time‑management in a multi‑task environment.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Post‑secondary degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years in a cloud‑first organization; 3 years of network device configuration and troubleshooting.
- IT certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, ITIL) are advantageous.
