Job title: Staff Software Engineer – Mobile Platform (React Native)
Role Summary
Lead design, development, and delivery of Bubble’s mobile application builder for iOS and Android, building scalable and secure mobile infrastructure that integrates with Bubble’s visual development engine and backend. Drive technical vision, mentor engineering staff, and collaborate with product, design, and executive leadership to launch a high‑quality cross‑platform experience.
Expectations
- Senior technical leadership with at least 8 years of engineering experience in fast‑growth or startup settings.
- Proven ability to architect and ship end‑to‑end mobile solutions, including deployment pipelines to Apple App Store and Google Play.
- Strong mentorship, team‑scaling, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Hands‑on expertise in React Native, TypeScript, and modern front‑end frameworks; broad knowledge of web‑to‑mobile integration and AI/data workflows.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving, proactive initiative, and alignment with product values of empowerment and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Architect and implement Bubble’s mobile app builder platform, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
2. Design and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for automated iOS/Android app publishing.
3. Collaborate with product, design, and support teams to create seamless user experiences across web and mobile.
4. Mentor and coach engineering team members, elevating technical and leadership capabilities.
5. Partner with executive leadership to define product roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and guarantee on‑time delivery.
6. Develop and sustain the React Native runtime that interfaces with Bubble’s backend services.
7. Investigate emerging mobile technologies and best practices; integrate relevant advances into the product.
Required Skills
- 8+ years as a senior software engineer, preferably in high‑growth startups.
- Deep experience with React Native (expert or advanced); proficient in TypeScript and modern front‑end frameworks (e.g., SolidJS, React).
- Strong architecture skills: cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, mobile app store deployment.
- Expertise in building scalable, secure, high‑performance mobile applications.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and cross‑functional teamwork.
- Familiarity with data and AI workflows, JSON‑based app models, and integrating proprietary datasets.
- Problem‑solving mindset, proactive approach to technical challenges.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- No mandatory certifications, but knowledge of mobile security standards, cloud architecture (AWS/GCP/Azure), and CI/CD tooling is preferred.
