Operations Project Manager – 4 to 6 Months
Job Description
Job title: Operations Project Manager – 4 to 6 Months Role Summary: Lead operational transformation and relocation of a finishing shop, owning planning, execution, and continuous improvement over a 4‑6 month contract. Expectations: - Deliver measurable gains in reliability, throughput, and quality through staged 30/60/90‑day sprints. - Maintain alignment with senior stakeholders and provide concise reporting to leadership. - Work site‑on on key phases and regularly in office for planning and oversight. Key Responsibilities: - Redesign and stabilize end‑to‑end finishing workflow, including scheduling, machine/labour utilization, QC, and rework control. - Implement production rules, SOPs, and cross‑functional policies with Sales, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Finance. - Establish KPI framework (uptime, efficiency, throughput, lead time, rework, adherence) and embed daily/weekly operating routines. - Create board‑ready relocation plan covering layout, equipment moves, labour transition, safety, vendor coordination, phased schedule, risk and contingency management. - Lead contractors and cross‑functional teams through controlled execution of relocation. - Serve as Program Manager for senior task force: define workstreams, milestones, decision points; facilitate senior working sessions; maintain rolling 30/60/90‑day plan; provide executive sponsor updates. Required Skills: - 10+ years in finishing operations (paint/coating) with hands‑on shop leadership in planning, scheduling, quality, and labour/machine optimisation. - Proven track record of delivering operational change under tight timelines. - Experience with facility moves or major transitions. - Strong cross‑functional collaboration and ERP/automation familiarity. - Operations and project management expertise; program management and stakeholder leadership preferred. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or similar) is desirable.
