Our client is a multifaceted operation and a manufacturer looking for an Operations Manager or Operations Project Manager to joining them for a 4 to 6 Month contract role to lead the operational transformation and relocation of their Finishing Shop. The role is based in Muskoka area and more specifically in Bracebridge, ON and in office 3 to 4 days per week during execution peaks and full time on site during critical phases.

This is a delivery-focused hands-on role where you will own the plan, drive day-to-day execution through 30/60/90 day sprints and ensure measurable improvement in reliability, throughput, and quality while keeping senior stakeholders aligned.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Site Production Process Redesign and Stabilization

Rebuild the end‑to‑end finishing workflow, including scheduling, machine/labour utilization, QC, and rework control.
Implement practical production rules and SOPs to ensure consistent execution.
Align cross‑functional policies with Sales, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Finance.

Data, KPIs and Operating Rhythm

Establish a concise KPI framework (uptime, efficiency, throughput, lead time, rework, adherence).
Make performance data visible and actionable at all levels.
Embed daily/weekly operating routines and define automation requirements.

Relocation Planning & Execution

Produce a board‑ready relocation plan covering layout, equipment moves, labour transition, safety, and vendor coordination.
Build a phased move schedule with risk management and contingency planning.
Lead contractors and cross‑functional teams through a controlled execution.

Program Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Serve as Program Manager to a senior task force, defining workstreams, milestones, and decision points.
Facilitate senior working sessions and maintain a rolling 30/60/90‑day plan.
Provide concise reporting to the Executive Sponsor and Board.

Requirements

10+ years in finishing operations (paint/coating) within manufacturing or engineered products.
Hands‑on Finishing Shop leadership across planning, scheduling, quality, labour/machine optimization.
Proven operational change delivery under tight timelines.
Experience with facility moves or major transitions.
Strong cross‑functional collaboration and ERP/automation familiarity.
Operations and Project Management experience.
Program management and stakeholder leadership experience (preferred).
